After the recent Olympic months it is becoming hard not to notice that my regular gym has been packed with people who are trying to create the same body type as Michael Phelps. These people for the most part are slightly overweight but want to have a fit and toned body like they’ve been watching on their tubes for the past couple of months. Interestingly a recent study showed that sitting on the couch and watching the Olympics can lead to a weight gain from anywhere from 5 to 10 pounds which I find very ironic.
There are however certain tips and tricks you may think are too small to think about but what you don’t realize is that over time these tricks are very effective at packing on the pasta in all the right places. Most of us find it very easy to gain 15 or 20 pounds in a month. In fact, Americans are particularly good at that. Well the interesting thing about that is that in order to get some really nice muscle you do need to gain weight so most people find it easier than they would have initially thought.
The first secret is not exactly a secret–get a gym membership! With gyms, the same theory as real estate applies: location, location, location. The closer a gym is to your house the more likely you are to actually keep to your workout routine. Someone who works out at half the intensity but spends more time at the gym consistently working out will see better results. Not only will he have a better body at the end of it, he will more likely keep his toned body for longer. You see working out is very good in that you can workout for a given period of time and even if you don’t for another few months your body will still be in good shape.
That being said, you want to build muscle at a constant pace, as it will help you see really good results when you build in a linear capacity. When you increase too quickly than suddenly stop working out you will be in serious trouble when you want to go back to hitting the gym.
Building muscle is something that is not rocket science and most people will most likely fail at building muscle just because they don’t know the simple tricks which everyone can use to tone up. Again, it’s not at all unfeasible or extraordinary but most people who lack the simple knowledge will be unable to build muscle quickly.
EJ is currently spending time updating his blog telling people simple secrets to building muscle that you can read about here: http://www.automatedfitness.com/2008/09/how-to-build-muscle-quickly.html
