Current Affairs

Let’s face it, in this current economic climate, who wants to take on the expense of buying a brand new car? No matter how battered your old jalopy may be, how can you justify spending out thousands of pounds on a new vehicle, just to drive it off the forecourt and lose hundreds in an instant?

Well, the answer is that not many people can. There are some who continue to push their old cars to the limit, running them into the ground. But you can be quite sure that the day they finally give u completely will be the day that they have an all important meeting or they need to get a child to the doctors or some such emergency.

So, what is the answer? Do we blow silly money on a new car or do we drive our old favourites with or fingers crossed that nothing goes wrong?

Well, there is no need to suffer either way. Many people are now turning to car leasing as a way of securing a reliable vehicle at a reasonable cost without the worry of maintenance. You don’t lose money when you use car leasing as a means of transport as no big outlay is ever necessary. It means you can get yourself mobile with minimum outlay.

If anything should go wrong with the car you have automatic access to workshops that will fix it and when it comes to MOT’s and servicing, this will all be undertaken by the car leasing company so you can be sure of getting a quality service as they have a vested interest in keeping their own vehicles in tip top condition.

Many companies like to use car leasing as a way of obtaining a number of staff vehicles, as quantity usually equates to getting a better deal and once again, maintenance is not an issue. Company cars tend to clock up a lot of miles and by leasing the vehicles, the cars can be returned or upgraded at the end of their ‘life’ with replacements being available.

So, what’s available then? Do you remember the days when national Health spectacles came in blue, pink or brown with the tell tale ‘I’m poor and can’t afford my own’ frame? Well, things have changed. You couldn’t tell a NHS pair of glasses from any other just the same as leased vehicles are no longer basic models in boring colours.

Of course, if you’re really tight, you can get a basic car in a boring colour for a nominal fee. But what the hell! For a little more you could have anything from the family car that you need to cater for your 2.4 kids, family dog and husband with fishing gear or you could have the luxury car of your dreams like a Lexus or Rolls.

Car leasing comes with flexible terms for short leases or longer terms. Anything from one day to one year can be arranged so you have flexibility to change it along the way if your circumstances change and you can always be sure of where you are. But shop around. Car leasing prices vary greatly.
