Do you realize that when you are out in the cold for too long you will start to freeze? Your body will actually start to freeze when it is cold enough. If you are out in the elements for too long without the proper clothes on, your body parts will start to become very uncomfortable because your body temperature is starting to drop.

First, you might start getting a slight burning in your fingers as they are going numb. This in itself is not dangerous but will happen to someone that has been out in the cold weather for too long, and your body is trying to tell you that you need to go inside. If you are stuck out in this bad weather for too long, you can develop something else that is more dangerous to your life.

This is called hypothermia, and this is deadly, as it will act like the fire in your body is freezing. Your body will send you signs that are telling you that you are in trouble. If your body temperature drops one degree, you will notice that your speech will start to slur, and if you don’t heed that warning, your body temperature will keep going down. If it drops three more degrees, you won’t be able to coordinate your fingers properly. If this should happen, seek shelter immediately.

If your temperature were to fall another five degrees, you won’t be able to walk. This is very dangerous because you could fall down, and you won’t be able to get up. If you are alone, you couldn’t get out of the cold, and you will just lie there and die by freezing to death. This is why I said that it is like your body’s natural fire is freezing. If you have someone with you, they can help by making you keep moving. They will motivate you to keep moving. If you just get cold, they might share their body warmth with you, as you both can snuggle together to help each other stay warmer longer.

If you go on a trip when the weather starts turning cold, remember to pack extra clothes and leave them in the car so that if you start to feel like you’re getting colder, you can put them on to help you stay warm. If your clothes were to get damp, then you can get them and put on some dry ones.
